Description of tours, from April to October, operated on the Island of RHODES

Half-day Visit of Rhodes town   
The capital of the island is also called Rhodes and occupies its northernmost tip. There are actually three cities on this site- modern, ancient and medieval. The modern town has a cosmopolitan character, many late 20th century buildings and hotels. The ancient town, which was founded in 408 B.C, started from Monte Smith Hill where the Acropolis stood and extended as far as what the medieval city. The medieval city is surrounded by the high walls erected by the Knights. Guided walk around the walls and visit of the Palace of the Grand Master. A fairy tale castle rebuilt by the Italians, which today houses a collection of 16th and 17th century furniture and Roman mosaic floors from the island of Kos .

Half-day Visit of Rhodes to Lindos 
The contrast between the brilliant whitewashed houses of the village of Lindos and the ancient acropolis towering above it from its austere pinnacle makes one of the most stunning views in Greece. Lindos was the most important of the three original towns of ancient Rhodes . The Acropolis was built on a triangular cliff and surrounded by stone walls. The beautiful Temple , dedicated to the goddess Athena, coming gradually into view as you ascend the stairs is a sight never to be forgotten. It was first fortified in Byzantine times and again by the Knights of St. John.

Half-day Tour to Filerimos, Valley of Butterlies, Kamiros 
We will be driving along the west coast to a completely different landscape. The first stop is the Filerimos monastery which is situated on top of the ancient site of Ialyssos and there is still some evidence of the old city. There are fine views across the green valley to the left and toward the sea to the right. The Valley of the Butterflies is one of the island's best known beauty spots. A secluded narrow valley with a stream flowing down its center, has lots of trees and clouds of butterflies which are to be seen from June to September. Kamiros is strategically hidden on the side of a hill. This site has only been exposed in recent times and boasts to be the best preserved ancient city of Greece and it is easy to imagine that centuries ago a brilliant civilization flourished on this site.

Full-day Island Tour  
The full-day tour begins travelling down the green and fertile west coast. Passing through the many villages, you will see some of the most magnificent scenery of Rhodes . On the way, we will stop at the charming fishing village of Kamiros Scala for refreshments. We will continue our tour to bordering Kritinia Castle where at a distance, from the hilly point of this area we can contemplate the nearby island of Halki . The village of Siana known for its excellent pure honey is our next stop where we can enjoy an aperitif  in a local cafe. The most southern point of our trip is overlooking Monolithos Castle , which was built by the Knights of St. John. It is truly breathtaking with the impression of a fairy tale castle set amongst rocks and tiny islands. Continuing from the west coast, we travel over the mountains through Apolakia and Kattavia villages and stop for lunch at a village taverna on the beach of Gennadi where we have time to relax and swim. We leave for Rhodes travelling up the east coast of the island where we still stop at the village of Archangelos to visit a ceramic factory and also the beautiful peaceful Epta Piges which translates as "seven springs" and is situated beyond the village of Colimbia . At this stop you will see the perennial streams, pine and plane trees.

Full-day Cruise to Symi - Panormitis 
This boat trip takes you to Symi harbor (Yalos) where you have free time to walk through the narrow streets, shop for local handicrafts, eat fresh seafood in a local taverna or soak up some sun in an open air cafe. In the south of the island along the inlet stands the massive buildings of Panormitis monastery. This monastery is dedicated to the Archangel Michael and has a charming bell tower and a beautiful 12th century church. It is a well known spot of great interest and attracts many visitors and worshippers who come to see the Byzantine frescoes and engraved temple full of golden offerings. Here you can take a dip in the crystal clear water and relax on the long stretch of beach before sailing back to Rhodes .
